The Cahaba River Wildlife Management Area provides both a Rifle Range and a Shotgun Range for shooting sports enthusiasts. Both facilities are located within the same general area of the Management Area. In order to use either of the ranges, you must possess an Alabama Hunting license OR a Wildlife Management Area license. "Ya gotta pay to play".
Additionally, the rifle range is restricted to the use of PAPER TARGETS ONLY! NO OLD WATER HEATERS, BROKEN TVs, SODA CANS, OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN PAPER TARGETS!!! This is OUR shooting range, let's take care of it and use it responsibly. Report violations to 205-339-5716.
Directions can be found by clicking on either of the links to the left.
Shooting Range Closures The range is closed, from time to time, for maintenance and for general projects in the area. The closures are random and this site can not routinely report the status of the range. Before making a trip to the range, you might find it useful to check the Cahaba River Wildlife Management Area Message Board under the "Shooting Ranges" section. Closures are often (but not always) reported there.
Please obey all rules and regulation concerning the use of these ranges. If you see someone violating these rules, contact the District 3 Law Enforcement Office of the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries in Northport, AL at 205-339-5716. These folks can quickly get in contact with the conservation officer that is nearest the WMA. |
