This Little Piggy...

While not related to the Cahaba River Wildlife Management Area, I felt certain that visitors to this site would be interested in seeing this 600 Lb sow that was harvested on a private lease in Bibb County.

Discussion Board participant "cottijo" took this massive pig on Tuesday November 29, 2005, in the afternoon.  The beast had been tormenting the food plots on their property since spring.  The pig had apparently escaped from domestic stock, but it is unsure how long she had been surviving in the wild.  Obviously, she had adapted very well!

The folks that hunt the property had been looking for this pig since first finding sign of her in their fields, but this was the first that they had seen of her.  The animal had reverted to a wild state and was never seen feeding in the roads.  Apparently, this big girl spent most of her time in thick cover.

Shocked is the word used to describe their reaction to how large this pig had grown.  The first shot did nothing but upset the beast, and I am told that the pig charged and "cottijo" barely had time to get off a second shot to stop her in her 600 pound tracks.

Mmmmm....I smell bacon!
