Land connecting the Cahaba River Wildlife Management Area to the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge has been nominated for the Forever Wild land acquisition program. The Forever Wild Program was established in 1992, by constitutional amendment, to provide for the purchase of public recreational lands. Since its inception, the program has purchased lands for general recreation, nature preserves, additions to Wildlife Management Areas and state parks. If the land is successfully acquired, it could provide for additional hunting and outdoor recreation opportunities! The nominated property makes up about 2000 acres and is owned by four separate land owners. If the landowners are receptive to the nomination of the property, the next step will be up to the Forever Wild Board of Trustees. Please let these Board Members know that you support this acquisition. There is more information available on the Cahaba River Wildlife Management Area Discussion Board.
